The Peter Pan Play was GREAT. The kids REALLY enjoyed themselves. The Pirates came all through the audience more than once. Peter flew OVER the audience sprinkling pixie dust on everyone. There was lots of singing and ACTION. Then we had a carpet picnic in the lobby with our Chick Fil A food. A special thanks goes out to Kinae's Mom and Alexus' La La for coming along with us as chaperones. We are glad you could join us. THANK YOU>
I heard that they are extending the play to run until New Years because of the high demand to see it. If you want to see a good play then check it out.
I hope everyone was able to go to the Tree lighting in the park last week where our choir sang and the parade on Saturday. The holiday season is in full swing.
We have two more weeks left in our 2nd nine week period. Again I can't stress enough how important it is to have your child come to school if possible. We are getting final grades these last few weeks, doing make up work, and Christmas activities.

All Week Long in the Lunchroom students will be able to shop in the gift store FOR YOU. We sent a flyer home telling about it. If you want your child to purchase Christmas gifts for you then please send money with them any day this week. Sponsored by the PTA.

Wednesday we will have a special Math lesson by Mrs. Pam from AMSTI.

Thursday we will have counseling with Mrs. Bush. Reading story quiz too.

This coming FRIDAY we will be DIBELS testing. Your child will read three different passages for one minute each. They will take the highest and lowest scores and discard them. AND keep the middle score. Our goal on Friday is 68 Words per minute. So basically two passages will have to be over 68 words. Our nightly reading passages you have been practicing will help with Dibels. Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep on Thursday night and eats breakfast on Friday morning. Thank you.

Friday is our next Gotcha party too. Busy day. Please allow your child to bring a BOARD GAME to school that day. It will come home the same day.

Friday we will have our regular Spelling and Language tests.
In Math we will have a County test on Tuesday and our regular grade on Friday.

Next Thursday, Dec. 16th is breakfast with Santa and our class Party day.

Welcome Back. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break with their family.
Now it's back to business for three weeks and then we have a two week break for Christmas. Wow... time flies.
On Thursday we have our Field trip to the Play "Peter Pan". Just send your child dressed in a white, long sleeved shirt and jeans on that day. I will provide them with their Field Trip T-Shirt the morning of the trip to put OVER their white shirt. Your child will bring their field trip shirt home after our field trip to keep at home until the next trip. Also please send a light jacket with your child just in case they need it. The weather has been really chilly and the theatre may be as well.
Chaperones... Please remember you must drive your own car to the play, your lunch is included in the price you paid, and we appreciate you coming along to HELP with all the children.
I am pleased to say we have ALL students attending the field trip from our class and 3 chaperones coming along to help. Things should go very smoothly.

Friday we have Tests in ALL SUBJECTS.
Please make sure your child attends school on Friday.
It is important for the students to complete their grades before new material is taught next week.
We also have Library from 11:10 - 11:50 on Friday.

***We are Pleased to announce that: Keondre Powell has read 100 books from our class***
HE WAS ACTUALLY THE FIRST IN THE SCHOOL TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL.....!

Each of you have a blue form at home to record your child's 100 books they read at home.
I am sending a copy of ALL the tests your child has taken on the computer for AR this year so far. All you have to do is copy the titles from the list I have sent onto the blue form you already have. If it doesn't add up to 100 then write your child's titles on it each night after they read their AR book to you at home. Keep it on the fridge as an easy place to find it.
When your child records 100 books return the form and they will be announced on the intercom and be able to attend a special party this spring.
Read & Record Read & Record Read & Record.
I would like 100% attendance at this party from our class.
Thanks Have a Great Week.

DIBELS Testing is tomorrow. Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep tonight and eats breakfast tomorrow morning.

Also your child is bringing home a reading passage tonight. This passage will last for a whole week. Please take the time to listen to your child read it to you EACH NIGHT and initial in the box provided. On Friday's they will earn a gotcha for a week of parent initials. Also on Friday's your child will read this passage to me.

The purpose is to improve reading fluency. Your child will need to read the entire passage every night. Please help them sound out the words they need help with. You will notice they read smoother each night. The more they read familiar words the better they internalize them, and overall reading fluency will improve.

Your child will receive a NEW passage every Monday (or Day #1)
Thank you for your support.

Sunday, August 15, 2010
