Welcome to the 4th nine weeks.
Today we are starting over with Everything. Grades have been turned in and 3rd nine weeks' report cards will be coming home soon.
We are starting over with our A.R. goals. We have taken our reading and math pretests. We have a new set of spelling words for the 9 weeks that can be found in your child's green take home folder. Many of you keep this in their folder, which really helps the kids see it in the same place, for both home and school.
A lot of things will stay the same. Our weekly special class this week is Library. We will start a new timed fact practice drill this week. It is still subtraction, but more problems. I will count only the best score of all 9 as a grade toward the report card.
Your child has Homework Everyday. They will have a little bit of spelling practice, their nightly fluency passage with vocabulary words on the back, and one A.R. book to read. I will check these each Friday.
This Friday we have a very special AMSTI math/science lesson. Please make sure to ask your child about it.
Lots of information just came home today. Please take the time to look through it all. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Have a great week.

Welcome to November! We have our Math night this Tuesday at 6pm. We will start in the Cafeteria with the PTA meeting/performance from Blue Pods, and then you and your child can roam around the 2nd grade classrooms and play math games together. Visit 4 rooms and then your child will get a piece of candy. Each room will only have ONE game to play. Try and visit as many rooms as possible so you can really get a feel for the type of activities we are doing in 2nd grade. Thursday we will have another visit from our Gifted Screening teacher. Friday we will have our Student Council Program in the morning and our Gotcha party in the afternoon. Another busy week. REMEMBER: Monday, November 11th is a Holiday...NO SCHOOL ON November 11th.
